Oughtibridge Parish Church of the Ascension

Received by our chairperson, Margaret

The Oughtibridge Brass Band is a much-loved part of our local community. The training band plays at our annual church summer party and they are much appreciated by those who support that event. The full brass band plays at our Remembrance Service every year in the parish church and they also play carols around the Christmas tree Christmas Eve on our village's Millennium Green. As the vicar of the parish, I am very thankful to God for the work of our brass band and their support for our church activities.

"Please convey to the band our thanks for all the efforts on 16th September.
Once again we were very ably led in our parading, marching and singing."

Gordon Unsworth Civic events organiser.

"I have just attended the above event in Sheffield and once again what a marvellous job the band has done again.
I would like to say that everybody was saying how impressed they were by the individual who played the LAST POST in the Cathederal, well done again."

April 2012 Wedding
Dear Margaret, We really enjoyed having the band to play at our wedding and can't thank you enough for helping to arrange it all. When asked during the day what my highlights were, the band were definitely up there at the top of the list. I hope they didn't get too cold sat outside, but if they did, they didn't show it and were true professionals throughout.
We also loved the opportunity to get photographed with a few of the instruments and they were such good sports to let us attempt to get a few notes out of the instruments!

Thank you once again, they really helped to make it a fabulous day for us all. Once we've got all the photos back, we will email you over a selection of the best and are happy for you to put them up on your website along with my comments above, along with our first names.
Thank you again so much, the band truely were a highlight for us both and added so much to the day.
Best regards, Susie

I would just like to say a big thank you for playing at the Varsity 10k on Sunday. We thought you were fantastic and brought a real fantastic atmosphere to the event. We have had great feedback from the organisers and from the runners saying how much they enjoyed your presence there. Once again thank you so much for playing for us and supporting St Luke’s; it is really appreciated. Kind regards Claire Hunter

We were glad to support your local band, they need all the support they can get in these times. I was quite impressed with the range of tunes that they played, "Hey Jude" was great, definitely a unique twist to a classic tune and the old war time music reminded me of my grandma, she used to sing along to Vera Lynn, I was even humming and rocking my foot. And the flapjack, well we came back for seconds so I think that says it all.

Congratulations on today’s excellent event. I truly enjoyed the band, the choir, the cakes, the company and in fact the whole afternoon. I have the impression the this will become an annual event in Oughtibridge’s calendar.

Dear Margaret I would just like to offer my congratulations for your part in organising the Concert in Coronation Park on Sunday. It proved to be a very enjoyable afternoon and a wonderful reward for all the hard work you and your team put into making it happen. I spoke with people after the concert and received not one negative comment, many expressed a wish for it to become a regular event. I will be reporting back to council on the success of the day and expressing my desire to encourage such a partnership in the future to enable events like this to take place on an annual basis. You did the village and Bradfield Parish Council proud. Thank you once again for all your hard work and please pass these thanks onto all who made the day possible.

Yours sincerely

Cllr. Kathy Reeves, Bradfield Parish Council

I attended the Battle of Britain Memorial Service yesterday, 19th September, at Sheffield Cathedral. I was representing Penistone Royal British Legion and I was impressed with your band especially with the music in the Cathedral, it was one of the best services that I have attended. I have attached some photos which I hope may be of some interest.

Regards

Joe Pinguey (Penistone RBL)
